Been away
I know...... I post a couple of days and then I'm unseen for a couple of weeks. This time I do have an excuse. My cousin Debbie asked me to go with her to her camper in the NC mountains. Never one to turn down a trip of course I said yes. Even though I am not the camper type. Holiday Inn is about as rough as I want to go, Motel 6 is really pushing it. Her camper does have "facilities", but not big enough to turn around in . Really, you have to back through the doorway and sit down. When you close the door it is practically touching your knees. I guess you could get in the shower, but no way could you turn around or bend over. Luckily we weren't too far from the bath house.
Her camper is located just a couple of miles from Harrahs in Cherokee. We did stop in one day. Since I had never even been in a real casino before I just had to try the slots. On the second spin I quardrupled my money. Yes !!!!!!! I won a whole DOLLAR !!!!! She was smart, she had me cash out and we left.
She said she needed a break from work and just wanted to sit in her swing by the creek and take it easy, but just about every day she found somewhere we had to go. It was mainly in the really hot part of the day. We would go shopping or just for a ride through the mountains. I really enjoyed our get away even though I was sick as a dog one night and slept most of the next day. She left early and stayed away most of the day. Didn't want to get my virus. Can't say I blame her.
Her camper is parked right by a little stream or creek. There just happens to be a pile of rocks right there and we could listen to the water as it rushed over the rocks. A very mini waterfall. There was also a ground hog living on the other side of the creek. We enjoyed watching him or her or them. We only saw one at a time. She would watch the chipmunks early in the mornings, I wasn't usually up yet. One day I did see an otter swim by. Didn't think I would ever be one to really enjoy just watching wildlife play.
Debbie took her new puppy Snoopy with us. He was a riot. He is a Jack Russell terrier and full of energy. It didn't take him long to learn his boundaries or how to lull us into a sense of security so he could sneak off to visit the puppy next door. When we would miss him and Debbie would take off to the neighbors camper, she would go around one way and he would come running around the other. He would then sit near me and wait for her to return with a very innocent look on his face. As if to say, I have been here the whole time--- where were you.
It was a very relaxing and enjoyable trip. And, of course, the hottest week up there this summer.
